In today's busy world it is sometimes difficult to maintain a disciplined routine with our pets and provide them with the exercise they need.  Because a dog's most basic instinct is to migrate in a pack and hunt for food, it is important for the well-being of your pet to mimic this activity through exercise for a minimum of 30-60 minutes daily.  This "movement in migration mode" can be provided through brisk walking, hiking, running and in some cases activities like roller blading are the best.  Both the type and duration of the activity depend on the age, breed and energy level of each animal.  It is also important for  your animal to be "out" periodically for bathroom breaks and play.  These activities are especially beneficial when done in groups or "packs" with other dogs and with a "pack leader" (the owner or someone familiar with the animals and their temperaments that can control their behavaior).
